TEHRAN (IQNA) – A conference titled “Toward Quds” is planned to be held in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on the occasion of the International Quds (Jerusalem) Day.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the embassies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Algeria in Sofia will cooperate in organizing the event.

Hamid Reza Azadi, Iran’s cultural attaché in Bulgaria, said members of the European country’s Muslim community as well as Bulgarian political officials and diplomats from different countries have been invited to take part in the conference.

He said the ambassadors of Iran and Palestine, a member of Bulgaria’s parliament, and head of Bulgaria’s Supreme Council of Muslims will be among the speakers at the gathering.

A photo exhibition will also be mounted on the sidelines of the conference to showcase the crimes of the Zionist regime of Israel, he went on to say.

Muslims and others worldwide will hold demonstrations on Friday, May 31, (marking the International Quds Day) to reiterate their call for the liberation of Palestine from Israeli occupation and to denounce Israel’s atrocities.

The International Quds Day is a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, who designated the day in solidarity with Palestinians.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, the International Quds Day has been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
